Geek Prom
Square pegs might be misfits, but they’re also more
interesting and better organized than anybody gave them credit
for back in high school. (The "Square Peg Rule,"
which we just made up, is that the squarer and weirder the
kid, the cooler the adult.) And finally, last year, we got
a full-on example of just how cool prom might have been if
the cheerleaders and football players with their pathetic
traditions had been swept aside in favor of the almighty geeks
with their press kits, early morning television appearances,
Web sites, and bank of celebrity geek/judges. Geekdom has
truly come to full flower, and who knew that Duluth would
be their capital city?
